WeCount Application Privacy Policy

The WeCount application (the "Application") is designed to simplify shared expense tracking. This policy explains what data is processed and how it is used.

1. User Identifier

Upon first launch, the Application generates a unique identifier stored locally on your device. It is used to identify your profile in shared events and to keep expense distribution correct.

2. Registration Data

For registration, you may provide a phone number and optionally an email address (for verification). This data is used only for account registration, inviting participants, and profile display for participants you interact with.

3. Contacts

Contacts access is used only to select event participants and is not required for the core app functionality.

What happens when contacts are used:

  1. Before any contacts are uploaded, the app asks for explicit user consent.
  2. Only contacts explicitly selected by the user are uploaded to the server.
  3. The full address book is not uploaded.
  4. For selected contacts, only the following fields may be sent: full name (first name, last name, middle name if available) and phone number.
  5. Uploaded contacts are used for inviting participants, synchronizing user actions within events, and simplifying registration.
  6. The server creates only contacts that do not already exist (no duplicate records).
  7. If the user does not provide consent, contacts upload is not performed.

4. Camera Usage

The camera may be used to scan receipt QR codes when you request it. The scan is used to fill receipt details in the app workflow.

5. Purchase Information

WeCount may process information related to optional donations/purchases.

  1. In iOS, donations are processed through in-app purchases (In-App Purchase) by Apple.
  2. For purchase verification and accounting, we may process Apple transaction metadata such as product identifier, transaction identifier, original transaction identifier, purchase date/time, storefront/currency, and subscription status fields if applicable.
  3. We do not receive or store your full bank card number in iOS in-app purchase transactions.

6. Data Sharing with Third Parties

WeCount does not sell your personal data. Data may be shared only with service providers required to process payments or provide app infrastructure, and only to the extent necessary.

WeCount does not use personal data (including contacts, name, and phone number) for advertising tracking purposes.

7. Your Rights

You can request information about your data processing and ask for correction or deletion where applicable, subject to legal and technical limitations.
